This class features examples of products of colonial and territorial New Mexico that were fiber-made utilitarian items and trade items. Handknit socks were often traded to workers of the silver mines in Mexico. Participants will learn to knit easy socks and also explore the techniques for creating practical everyday items such as jergas, a versatile utility cloth that can serve as a blanket, rug, tarp, tent, or even be made into clothing.
