Information about Public Accommodations Discrimination.

Your rights to public accommodations are protected by federal and state laws and the Albuquerque Human Rights Ordinance. You may not be denied goods, services or the use of facilities because of:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National origin
  • Ancestry
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Physical Handicap

Your rights to Public Accommodations protect your choice of access and include most:

  • Goods
  • Services
  • Facilities
  • Accommodations (public)

It is also unlawful to:

  • Threaten,
  • Intimidate, or
  • Interfere with

an individual's right to public accommodations.

Common Examples of Discrimination in Public Accommodations:

  • I have a disability and entered a restaurant with my service animal. I was denied service and told that pets are not allowed.
  • While shopping at a grocery store, a security guard followed me around the store. He did not follow people who were of a different race.
