Former State Senator Dede Feldman
Recognition celebrates years of service and leadership in healthcare and public service.
Feldman represented Albuquerque’s North Valley in the New Mexico State Senate from 1997 to 2012, becoming the first woman elected to that seat. During her 16 years in office, she was widely recognized as a champion for healthcare access, consumer protections, ethics reform, and policies that put people first.
“Dede Feldman dedicated her career to making government work better for everyday people,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “From strengthening healthcare access to advancing ethical, thoughtful public policy, her leadership has had a lasting impact on Albuquerque and our state. It’s especially meaningful to honor her here at Los Griegos, a place that reflects the values she stood for throughout her career.”
Throughout her tenure, Feldman chaired key legislative committees, including Public Affairs and Health and Human Services, and helped advance landmark initiatives such as the Graduated Driver’s License system, the Nurse Advice Hotline, and programs supporting seniors, people with disabilities, and individuals living with brain injuries.
The Los Griegos Health and Social Service Center serves as a hub for health, social, and supportive services for Albuquerque residents, making it a natural home for a tribute to Feldman’s legacy of service.
