Trash, Recycling, and Large Items Will Be Collected on Independence Day

Customers who are regularly scheduled for service on Tuesdays should put their trash and recycling at the curb for collection.

The City’s Solid Waste Management Department will collect trash, recycling, and large items on Independence Day, July 4, 2023. Customers who are regularly scheduled for service on Tuesdays should put their trash and recycling at the curb for collection. Any residential large items scheduled through 311 will also be collected.

All three convenience centers, Montessa Park, Don Reservoir, and Eagle Rock will be open and in full operation from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. The Cerro Colorado Landfill will also be open and in full operation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.

The main administrative office at 4600 Edith NE will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 and will reopen on Wednesday, July 5.

ACT (household hazardous waste) at 6137 Edith NE will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 and will reopen on Wednesday, July 5.

Several of the Recycling Drop-off Sites will be open on Independence Day, including the newest site located at 1250 Menaul NE. Please note that there are yellow signs indicating the entrance to this site, and it is only accessible by going eastbound on Menaul. If heading westbound on Menaul, you will need to make a U-turn at Broadbent Parkway NE and head eastbound on Menaul to be able to access the entrance to the site. The West Mesa and Balloon Fiesta sites will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. A full list of the recycling sites can be found here
