Help Give Holiday Cheer to Shelter Pets With “Operation Silent Night

ALBUQUERQUE - This holiday season, help bring warmth and cheer to cats and dogs spending their holidays in City shelters. The Animal Welfare Department’s (AWD) Operation Silent Night invites people to donate gifts for shelter pets awaiting their forever homes.

From cozy blankets and sweaters to treats and toys, every item on the pets’ holiday wish list makes a meaningful difference. Requested items include small cat toys, treats, beds, brushes, wand toys, scratchers, jackets, blankets, towels, dog enrichment toys, collars, harnesses and pill pockets.

“Any of us can positively impact a shelter pet’s life,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This holiday season, choose to create happiness and comfort by donating to the wish list.”

Donations will be accepted now through December 31 at both Animal Welfare Department shelters and participating local businesses throughout the city. To find a drop-off location near you, see below.

“Each gift brings joy and hope to the critters in our care,” said Animal Welfare Department Director Carolyn Ortega. “Together we can make sure no shelter pet feels forgotten this holiday season.”
