Animal Welfare Department Hosts Doghouse Drive
CABQ Animal Welfare Department is now accepting new or gently used, medium to large doghouses.
Animal Welfare Department (AWD) is hosting the Doghouse Drive to provide relief to pets and owners as cooler weather approaches. AWD is now accepting new or gently used, medium to large dog houses.
“Seeing our neighbors support our city’s pets and their owners is a great example of how Burqueños come together to help each other,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “This display of OneAlbuquerque spirit helps make sure no one gets left in the cold. Let's work together to keep all dogs safe and warm this winter.”

“This drive helps our Animal Protection Officers restock for Albuquerque’s community doghouse program,” said David Rose, Captain of Animal Protection Services Division. “These doghouses bring essential relief to both pets and owners needing assistance during the cold winter months.”
Albuquerque Animal Protection Services wants pet owners to know that providing a properly sized doghouse for exclusively outdoor dogs is required by law. To help pet owners stay compliant, low- and moderate-income Albuquerque residents can apply to receive a free doghouse through the AWD Doghouse Lottery Program.
