Description
It is the exhibition’s goal that through awareness, increased cleanup, recycling, and single-use efforts will become a reality-- bettering the environment for wildlife and citizens alike.
Making its 2025 debut in Dallas near White Rock Lake, the exhibition (along with recent additions) now makes its way to Albuquerque and the Open Space Visitor Center, near the shores of the storied Rio Grande River. Intertwined Detritus incorporates trash collected largely from volunteer cleanup efforts with more traditional art mediums. Paintings, collage, wall reliefs, and sculpture make up the exhibition-- a mixed media array of work consisting of encaustic, cold wax medium, oil, paper, cord, gauze, powders, silt, and discarded detritus. Materials are crocheted and woven throughout the work. Trash such as Styrofoam, plastic lids, aluminum cans, and more—along with the woven media--echo the intertwined nature of litter in our natural world. These expressive, beeswax-infused, textured creations contrast with the ugliness of litter and neglect.
