Description

Artists’ biographies:

The artist group, Scribes8, has been collaborating on small and large projects for the past 34 years.  Joint projects include a 90’ mural of local birds on the workday along the Duranes Acequia, a portrait of a cottonwood tree, a mathematics column, portfolios, and several books, including A Book which contains our art work and the poetry of 8 local poets. Rudolfo Anaya and Joy Harjo were among our poet collaborators. The book was named by the Albuquerque Journal “ The book of the year.” All of us began our artistic careers as calligraphers and words continue to be a common thread in other media used by Scribes8.  Another common theme in individual and collective work has been related to nature.  Most of the 7 of us have been or are still teachers of art and art-related subjects.  All have exhibited our collaborations in galleries in Albuquerque, Napa California, Oaxaca Mexico,  Roswell, and Silver City.  We believe that The Open Space Visitor Center would be the ideal space to celebrate our 35 years together and demonstrate our deep respect for the natural world and Albuquerque Open Space.
