The goals of the Office of Consumer Protection are to:

  • Help you protect yourself from unfair and deceptive business practices
  • Share information so that you can “know your rights” and can make informed choices
  • Expand city services to help consumers who have been harmed by an unfair or deceptive business transaction
  • Enact city regulations to strengthen protections for consumers
  • Take action against businesses that violate the law and take advantage of consumers
  • Connect you to information on how to avoid scams and take action if you have lost money or had your identity or personal information stolen
