Site Description

The closed San Francisco landfill potentially covers 2.75 acres.  Waste type is unknown but assumed to be a combination of residential, commercial, construction, and demolition waste.  Waste depth is unknown but identified in one area of having a minimum depth of 10 feet.   The amount of waste is unknown.  The depth of cover is unknown.

A landfill gas study was initiated in 2005 with the installation of six landfill gas probes in the north bound lane of San Pedro Drive.  In 2013, five probes remained and were sampled and measure for landfill gas.  Methane and hydrogen sulfide were not detected and maximum carbon dioxide results were 2.5%.

The buffer zone for this landfill is established at 500 feet from the landfill boundary.  Building projects and development projects located within the buffer zone are reviewed by the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department for landfill gas impacts
