Director of Environmental Health

Dr. Whitney S. Craig, originally from Pennsylvania, serves as the Environmental Health Director for the City of Albuquerque. A dedicated public health leader with more than a decade of experience in local and state government, Dr. Craig has led multidisciplinary teams responsible for environmental health, disease prevention, emergency preparedness, clinical services, and community health initiatives.

Most recently she served in Midland, Texas as the City of Midland Health Services Manager overseeing the Midland Health Department. Throughout her career, she has championed operational excellence, strategic planning, and collaborative partnerships to improve public health outcomes. As part of the Midland Unified Command Team, she has previously received the Beacon Award for Excellence in Collaboration.

Dr. Craig is passionate about cultivating strong relationships with community partners, and ensuring environmental health programs protect and enhance the quality of life for residents. Her leadership emphasizes transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong commitment to public service.

Dr. Craig is a member of the American Public Health Association and the National Association for Doctors of Public Health. She holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) and a Master of Public Health (MPH), is a Certified Public Manager (CPM®), and is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Dr. Craig is committed to advancing public health through innovation, collaboration, and service to the community. She has participated on several community advisory boards, volunteered, and mentored elementary students.
