"Breaking Bad Habits" Partners with Imagine ABQ for September 26 Community Volunteer Day

ALBUQUERQUE — Breaking Bad Habits is partnering with Imagine ABQ, a local nonprofit, for Imagine ABQ Day on Saturday, September 26, inviting Albuquerque residents to volunteer in community cleanup and beautification projects.

Now in its fifth year, Imagine ABQ Day takes place on the last Saturday of every September, as proclaimed by the Albuquerque City Council. The annual citywide event brings volunteers together to clean up neighborhoods, complete beautification projects, and strengthen connections among Albuquerque residents. Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet Luis and Daniel Moncada, known for their roles as the Salamanca Cousins in the hit TV series Breaking Bad, after the event.

Breaking Bad Habits encourages residents to make the most of the day by starting with community cleanup and beautification projects throughout the city from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Imagine ABQ's volunteer hubs will provide opportunities for residents to pick up supplies, drop off collected trash, and connect with other volunteers who want to join a group project. The five main hubs to get supplies or join a neighborhood clean-up are:
● Hub 1 - Fire Station 12 (201 Muriel St NE - set up on Linn Avenue)
● Hub 2 - Fire Station 5 (123 Dallas St NE - set up on Chico Rd)
● Hub 3 - Nob Hill (Next Chapter Studios - 109 Hermosa Dr SE)
● Hub 4 - Barelas (Revamp Upholstery - 916 4th St SW)
● Hub 5 - Bosque (Sunset and Central)

After volunteering, residents can meet the Salamanca Cousins at one of three scheduled appearances:
● 10:30-12:00 p.m. | Barelas Mural Reveal, 507 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102, Free community 
event
● 1:30–3 p.m. | Imagine ABQ Celebration
Triangle Park, Nob Hill — 2901 Central Avenue NW Free community event
The Salamanca Cousins will join Albuquerque City Councilor Nichole Rogers at the Nob Hill 
celebration as volunteers and community members come together to celebrate Imagine ABQ Day.
● 5:30–8 p.m. | New Mexico United Game Meet-and-greet before the game Ticketed event
Fans will have another opportunity to meet the Salamanca Cousins before the game.

The fearsome Salamanca Cousins have become familiar faces of the Breaking Bad Habits campaign, appearing in its latest advertising effort to encourage New Mexicans to take care of their communities and keep litter out of New Mexico's neighborhoods and natural landscapes. The Cousins have also joined Breaking Bad Habits at community cleanup events across the state, including The Great New Mexico Clean Up earlier this year.

accomplish together.”

"Breaking Bad Habits" is a statewide litter prevention program based on the hit TV series Breaking Bad, with a mission to protect and preserve the natural beauty of New Mexico. Since launching in October 2024, the campaign has partnered with 190 local organizations, and coordinated cleanup efforts have resulted in more than 10,000 bags of trash collected around the state.

“Breaking Bad Habits” first launched in October 2024 under the leadership of Lujan Grisham with Bryan Cranston reviving the legendary role of “Walter White” in a PSA directed by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan.
