September 09, 2026

ALBUQUERQUE, NMDistrict 5 City Councilor Dan Lewis and the Albuquerque City Council are thrilled to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone for a cherished member of our community. On Thursday, September 10, 2026, Seven Bar Elementary special education educational assistant Elizabeth Ours will turn 90 years old.

In honor of her extraordinary life and service, the Albuquerque City Council has issued a proclamation, sponsored by City Councilor Dan Lewis, officially declaring September 10, 2026, as "Elizabeth Ours Day."

For 25 of her 26 years with Albuquerque Public Schools (APS), Ms. Ours has been a steadfast and compassionate presence at Seven Bar Elementary. Her incredible work ethic is matched only by her deep, unwavering care for her students. Going far beyond her daily classroom support duties, she personally organizes and manages a nightly reading program, thoughtfully selecting books tailored to individual students to spark a lifelong love of reading. Seven Bar Elementary and the broader Albuquerque community are profoundly grateful for her quarter-century of service and her tireless dedication to our city's children.

A special, lighthearted birthday celebration for Ms. Ours will take place at the Seven Bar Elementary outside amphitheater on Thursday, September 10, from 9:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. Attendees are advised to plan their arrival accordingly, as traffic around the school is expected to be very heavy starting at 9:00 a.m.

Please join us in wishing Ms. Elizabeth Ours a very happy 90th birthday!
