Major Project Underway
Paseo del Norte & Unser (Phase 1) $62M
- Design: 6-ft bike lanes with 3-ft painted buffers in each direction
- Trails: 10-ft multi-use paths on both sides
- Length Added: ~1.5 miles of bike lanes on Paseo del Norte, ~1.6 miles on Unser, plus equal mileage in new trails
- An engineer’s very rough estimate for only the bicycle portions of the project (on street bike lanes, buffer lanes, and trails is ~$2.5M ($600k per mile of trail, $200k for bike lanes, and buffer lanes (costs are not broken out)
- Limits: Unser (Paradise → just south of Paseo del Norte); PDN (Calle de Norteña → just past Unser
- Importantly, the new bike lanes and trails are planned to connect into both existing and proposed facilities—e.g., tie‑ins near Rainbow, Universe, Boulder Trail/Paradise, and the Unser/Paseo intersection—and are designed to be consistent with MRCOG’s long‑range bikeway map
- Funding: $62M project (City GO Bonds, GRT bonds, federal & state match, transportation tax)
- Timeline: Construction starts late 2025
- Community Event: Open House Sept 10, 2025 @ Don Newton–Taylor Ranch Community Center
