Meeting information
Notice for regular meetings are posted in the lobby on the first floor in the Albuquerque/ Bernalillo County Government Center, Albuquerque, N.M. Regular meetings will be scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm and will be held via Zoom. Except for any portion of this meeting that may be closed by the Personnel Board, pursuant to the provision of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, the meeting will be open to the public.

About the Personnel Board
General Rules and Regulations: The Board has issued rules to assist in the administration, conduct, interpretation, and enforcement of City Ordinance §3-1-4 Personnel Board.
Procedure for Appeals: The Board has issued rules to provide uniform procedures for the conduct of grievance hearings by Personnel Hearing Officers.
Board Duties: The City of Albuquerque Personnel Board's powers and duties are:
- To advise and assist the Chief Administrative Officer or his or her designated representative and the Director of Human Resources in adopting such Personnel Rules and Regulations as are considered necessary, appropriate, or desirable to carry out the provisions of this article;

To advise and assist the Chief Administrative Officer or his or her designated representative and the Director of Human Resources upon problems concerning personnel administration and recommend corrective action; and

To inquire, after consultation with the Chief Administrative Officer, into any matter which it may consider desirable concerning the administration of affairs of personnel.

The Personnel Board shall render a decision upon the appeal of classified employees of the city who have been suspended without pay for more than five days, demoted for disciplinary reasons, or discharged, as provided in Section 3-1-25.

The Personnel Board shall establish rules and regulations governing the conduct of its meetings and its grievance hearings.
Membership: The Personnel Board is composed of five members. Two members are appointed by the Mayor, two members are selected by employees by election, and then appointed by the Mayor, while the remaining member is selected by the other four members.
Non-probationary City employees may appeal discipline for suspensions of over 5 day suspensions and/or up to termination within ten (10) calendar days of the occurrence of discipline. Please refer to the Merit System Ordinance (3-1-25) for policies and procedures.
