Description
Casa San Ysidro is home to one of the most comprehensive collections of New Mexican art and furnishings in existence. The property consists of a 4-bedroom home, originally built by Jesús María Gutiérrez in 1875, and renovated by Dr. Ward Alan Minge and his wife Shirley Jolly Minge in the 1950s and 60s. Additional adobe rooms, designed and hand built by the Minges, were constructed using salvaged structural parts from historical buildings. The Minge’s romantic recreation of a Territorial Period Greek Revival rancho now showcases their collection of art, tools, and furnishings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
On February 14th, the property will hold an open house to share the museum’s history and its full year of programming. The Museum offers daily tours, monthly lectures and workshops, heritage arts classes, annual festivals, and educational trainings throughout the year.
