Description
A new play by Mónica Sánchez
Negra, a Chicana, Genízara, 21st century combat veteran has returned to her ancestral homeland in the Southwest. Psychotropic plant medicine launches her odyssey through a ceremonial and multi-generational labyrinth where she must confront ancestral trauma and original wounds. Quintessential New Mexican topography, histories and rituals illuminate universal echoes of colonization, war, and climate crisis making way for Negra’s ultimate transformation. This play is her “trip.”
