How does it work? 

Step 1: Complete this form. If we have space, we will email you with details.

Step 2. Pick up your bucket.

Step 3. Start diverting food waste! After you have your bucket, take the bucket home and collect accepted food waste items. Then, at your convenience, bring your bucket to McKinley Community Center (3401 Monroe St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110) and empty your bucket into the green food waste roll cart during McKinley Community Center’s regular hours: 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday. If you have questions, please ask the community center staff or email our Sustainability Specialist ([email protected]). Then, bring your bucket home, wash it out, and start refilling it with food waste.

What happens to my food waste? 

A hauler will regularly exchange the green roll cart and haul the collected items to a nearby compost facility that will turn your waste into compost, which will be applied locally to build healthy soils and grow plants, including food!

Luego, vuelva a llevarse el cubo, lávelo y comience a recolectar residuos alimentarios nuevamente.

¿Qué se hace con los residuos alimentarios?

Un transportista cambiará periódicamente el contenedor verde y llevará los artículos recolectados a un centro de compostaje cercano, donde se convertirán en abono que se aplicará en la zona para mejorar la calidad del suelo y cultivar plantas, ¡incluso alimenticias!
