Slow Down Albuquerque: More Speed Bumps Coming

Ash and Marquette getting new speed humps next week

ALBUQUERQUE – The City of Albuquerque’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program is slowing down drivers in two key neighborhoods with projects beginning on Monday, Aug. 25.

Speed humps will be coming to Ash St. between Dr. Martin Luther King and University, as well as Morningside between Marquette and Lomas to calm traffic. Work is expected to take two weeks.

“Adding speed humps to neighborhoods is a great way to slow down traffic and to keep drivers from cutting through neighborhood streets,” said Jennifer Turner, Director of the Department of Municipal Development. “These two projects will remind drivers that they are in neighborhoods and keep speeds at a safe level.”

“Residents have been asking for safer, calmer streets and we’re delivering. These speed humps are a direct response to community input and a commitment to making our neighborhoods safer for everyone, especially families and pedestrians. Slowing down traffic isn’t just about enforcement, it’s about design, and this is a smart step forward,” said District 6 City Councilor Nichole L. Rogers.
