Jorge O. Gonzalez has been promoted to Deputy Director in the Department of Municipal Development (DMD), where he will oversee Engineering, Construction Services, and Information Technology. Gonzalez began his career with the City of Albuquerque in 2013 and has held a range of technology and program management roles with the Albuquerque Police Department, the Environmental Health Department, the Department of Technology and Innovation, and the Department of Municipal Development.

Gonzalez has served in DMD as the IT and GIS Division Manager since 2022. In that role, he has led several high-profile departmental initiatives, including the development of new public-facing GIS maps highlighting street lighting, construction activity, and traffic barricades.

With more than 20 years of experience in computer engineering, technology infrastructure, and systems and project management across both the private and public sectors, Gonzalez brings deep technical and leadership expertise to his new role. Outside of City Hall, he is an avid musician who publishes classical crossover compositions at jorgeosvaldo.com. In his free time, he can often be found running on the City’s trail system or in the kitchen cooking healthy meals for his wife and nine-year-old son.
