Crews ready for the next round of rain
ALBUQUERQUE - The Department of Municipal Development (DMD) is actively addressing the aftermath of heavy rains that are bringing water, debris, and sand onto city streets. Parts of Albuquerque saw more than an inch of rain during Friday evening’s storm. Over the weekend and into this week, DMD street sweepers and Vactor trucks – which clear storm drains and sewer lines – were deployed.
Crews have been out steadily this week cleaning the roads. Additionally, DMD is preparing for the possibility of more rain, with crews on alert in case further flooding occurs. DMD has teams ready 24/7 to address weather events such as the recent one, keeping streets clean and the public safe.
“Our team is trained to respond as soon as the weather changes,” says DMD Director Jennifer Turner. “They’ll be on standby this week and beyond as monsoon conditions continue.”
The department also asks the public to be on the lookout for our crews and make room as they continue to clean the roads. Downed trees or debris in the roadway after storms can be reported to 311.
