City Activates Brand New Parking Meters in Downtown and Nob Hill

Modern meters are more reliable and easier to use.

April 27, 2023

Today, the City of Albuquerque announced that it has installed over 1,600 new parking meters in the Downtown and Nob Hill areas.

The new meters replace older models that relied on outdated communications systems and were not as dependable. The new meters add new features that make them easier for people to use, including touch-to-pay and mobile-pay capabilities that can process transactions more quickly and with clearer images.

“This is a big upgrade for the parking division,” said Maria Griego, Parking Division Manager. “We look forward to providing locals and visitors with a more efficient experience when they park Downtown or in Nob Hill.”

“These new meters provide a lot of new functions and bring the parking division up to date,” said Jennifer Turner, Deputy Director of Municipal Development. “We are always looking for ways to improve experiences for folks in our city.”

The new meters were gradually installed in the Downtown and Nob Hill areas beginning in early 2023, and the project was complete as of early April.
