Bike 2 Wherever Day gets Rolling with In-Person and Virtual Events

Over 1,000 cyclists ride to work, school, or wherever!

ALBUQUERQUE - For the first time since 2019, Bike 2 Wherever Day (formerly Bike 2 Work Day) featured opportunities for in-person participation. Cyclists were able to take advantage of twelve in-person pop-up stands that featured snacks, bicycle swag, prizes and more.

“There are a lot of benefits for bicycling for transportation - it’s good for the environment and health, but it’s also fun! Bike 2 Wherever Day is a great opportunity to bike to wherever.” Valerie Hermanson, Vision Zero Coordinator said. “We have been so excited for this year’s Bike 2 Wherever Day because of the virtual opportunities and initiatives, but also because it’s been a great opportunity to pop by one of our in-person pop-ups to pick up an updated bicycle and trail map as well as other free bicycle swag.”

Over 1,100 cyclists participated in Bike 2 Wherever day either in-person or virtually. Virtual opportunities included a riding challenge, photo contest, safety quiz, and discounts to local businesses.

“Albuquerque bike trails provide riders with an intimate view of our City,” Dave Simon, Parks and Recreation Director said. “We’re working to enhance our trails, including the addition of connecting routes, so folks can safely bike to wherever while enjoying their time outdoors.”
