Tomorrow, a ground lease and development agreement between the City of Albuquerque’s Aviation Department and Amazon will be introduced to City Council. If approved, the agreement would allow Amazon to develop an air cargo facility at the Albuquerque International Sunport.

"Over the past four years, we have positioned Albuquerque as a premier location for large-scale expansion. Today, there are thousands of good jobs headed to our city, more than over the past decade, as companies see the strength of our economic development efforts, the creativity of our city, and the opportunity to thrive here," said Mayor Keller. “We’re looking forward to working with Amazon to create more local jobs made possible by the intermodal transportation hub at the Sunport.”

“This is the latest in a string of exciting wins for the Sunport, bringing new forms of economic development to our community,” said Nyika Allen, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “In addition, we take great pride in recently securing $6.6 million in FAA funding to extend the Sunport’s cargo apron, which is necessary for Amazon’s operations.”
