Summer Resource Fair Uplifts Gateway West Residents
Residents offered access to treatment, benefits, housing and more
Albuquerque- A key component of uplifting the most vulnerable in our community is offering a one-stop shop for resources. To achieve this, a Summer Resource Fair was held for more than 600 residents staying at Gateway West. This is one of four resource fairs held throughout the year, hosted in partnership with Goodwill and PNM.
Today, 36 service providers participated in the resource fair and made 2,047 interactions with residents. That’s about double the interactions at our spring resource fair. This is the largest resource fair held at Gateway West to date.
Providers offered access to various services, including mental health treatment, access to substance use disorder treatment, food and SNAP benefit assistance, Medicaid and Medicare benefits enrollment, employment training, job opportunities, housing resources, and more.
For the first time, three food trucks were on site offering meals to residents. More than 200 meals were served.
“We’re meeting people where they are, and streamlining the process to connect to resources,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Each resource fair is an opportunity for people to take the next step toward healing and housing.”
“We lean on our providers who are making a lasting difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in our community,” said Health, Housing and Homelessness Director Gilbert Ramirez. “Thank you to those who attended to support our mission of creating a hub of resources and wraparound support.”
