Inaugural event at Gateway Center bridges gaps in health, housing, and well-being

ALBUQUERQUE – Today, a powerful network of support came to life at the Gateway Center, as the City hosted its first-ever Community Resource Fair. The fair connected residents—including those staying at the Housing and Treatment Navigation Center—to life-changing resources: access to free health care, housing support, food boxes, employment services, clothing, and more.

In total, more than 45 community service organizations attended the Community Resource Fair and reported more than 1,300 interactions to connect people to resources.

“Thank you to our strong community partners for promoting the health and well-being of our community through these vital resources that will undoubtedly change lives,” said Gateway Operations Officer Jennifer McDonald.

The fair comes at a critical time, bringing help directly into a neighborhood that has lost access to essential services, as some chain grocery stores and pharmacies close, part of a national trend impacting underserved communities.

“It has become more important now than ever to provide essential resources across our community, particularly in the International District,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We’re taking action every day to close gaps in access and deliver meaningful support where it’s needed most.”

The fair also focused on showcasing the essential services offered at Gateway Center.

  • The Housing and Treatment Navigation Center at Gateway Center connects individuals with a range of treatment options and housing through dedicated case management.
  • The Medical Respite Center at Gateway Center offers a safe, supportive environment for recovery from illness or injury, while also connecting patients to resources, treatment, and housing.
  • The First Responder Receiving area, at Gateway Center, provides a space where ACS responders can transport people to connect to services and plan their next steps.
  • Gateway Center is also home to three accredited hospitals, including Turquoise Lodge, which specializes in providing substance use disorder treatment. It’s also home to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which provides needed mental health treatment.

The Gateway Network’s mission to bring care where it's needed most is ongoing. Regular resource fairs will continue across all Gateway sites.

On April 26, a dedicated resource fair at Gateway Family provided support for 65 families working toward housing stability.
