March 03, 2025

Albuquerque – Gateway Recovery, a micro-community for the unhoused and people experiencing substance use disorder, is scheduled to open this spring following the selection and approval of Endeavors as the operator and provider, and the construction of pallet homes by Pallet Shelter.

Gateway Recovery, located along Pan American, just south of the Comanche exit, will house 50 people in 46 pallet homes. This includes 42 single-occupancy homes and four double-occupancy homes for couples. People will stay and get treatment for up to 24 months or until they are connected to longer-term recovery housing.

"People need a roof over their head and treatment at the same time, that's exactly what Gateway Recovery will do,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “The need for more addiction treatment our city is now, we can’t wait, so I'm grateful we're putting opioid settlement dollars to work to help our neighbors who are struggling."

Endeavors is a behavioral health provider based in San Antonio, Texas, with 55 years of experience connecting unsheltered individuals to services, including housing.

At Gateway Recovery, Endeavors will oversee daily operations, case management, housing navigation, meal service, and transportation.

“Gateway Recovery will be pivotal in helping people achieve long-term sobriety,” said Health, Housing and Homeless Director Gilbert Ramirez. “Endeavors has a decades-long history of uplifting vulnerable populations and will play a crucial role in administering the necessary supports, like case management, to get people on the pathway to recovery and housing.”
