City Front and Center as Coyote vs. Acme Hits Theaters

ALBUQUERQUE – Albuquerque is ready for its close-up. Coyote vs. Acme hits theaters nationwide today, August 28, bringing the Duke City to the big screen alongside some of the most recognizable characters in animation.

Filmed in and around Albuquerque, the live-action and animated feature does more than use the city as a backdrop. The story itself takes place in Albuquerque, putting the city front and center as Wile E. Coyote takes on the Acme Corporation in court.

The production employed approximately 180 New Mexico crew members, 49 New Mexico principal actors, and approximately 2,120 New Mexico background performers, providing opportunities both in front of and behind the camera.

“Albuquerque has always had a special place in the Looney Tunes universe, and now audiences around the country get to see our city become part of the story,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Productions like Coyote vs. Acme showcase Albuquerque, put New Mexicans to work, and remind the world that this is a city where big stories get made.”

Directed by Dave Green, Coyote vs. Acme stars Will Forte, John Cena, and Lana Condor and combines live action with classic Looney Tunes characters. The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he hires an attorney to sue Acme after years of the company’s products spectacularly failing him.

“Seeing Albuquerque play Albuquerque on the big screen is always special,” said Albuquerque Film Liaison Cyndy McCrossen. “This production tapped into the incredible depth of our local film community, from experienced crew members to actors and background performers.”

Keller even joined the production during filming for a brief cameo appearance, though audiences will have to watch closely to see whether his moment made the final cut.
