City of Albuquerque Small Business Office, State Bar Bring Free Legal Advice to Creative Small Businesses

Inventors, Artists and Creatives will learn how to protect ideas, art, or have general legal business questions answered

On Saturday November 2, 2019 the City of Albuquerque Small Business Office, the State Bar of New Mexico, and the UNM School of Law will host the second annual Pro Bono Intellectual Property Fair. Attorneys who specialize in patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and business law will offer free consultations from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m, at the University of New Mexico School of Law. This is an opportunity for small business owners, inventors, artists and creatives to get answers to their intellectual property and small business questions.

Professional legal advisors will assist inventors, artists, and creatives in taking the first steps toward patenting their invention, protecting their brand or trademark, or protecting their art, music, or software. Attorneys will also provide advice on selling art and forming a business and connect attendees to additional resources.

“Albuquerque is home to many artists and creatives who are highly innovative. We recognize that intellectual property is a valuable asset and protecting that key asset takes access to affordable professional knowledge. By partnering with the NM State Bar we are offering a free opportunity to small business owners to protect their intellectual property.” said Synthia Jaramillo, Director of Economic Development, City of Albuquerque.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve an appointment by registering by at https://form.jotform.com/sbnm/IPFair2019 by Saturday, October 26, 2019. Walk-ins will be served on first-come-first-served basis.
