11th Annual Red & Green VegFest Draws Record Community Attendance in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Today, District 7 City Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn joined community partners, local business leaders, and hundreds of residents at the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque for the 11th Annual Red & Green VegFest Albuquerque.

Organized in partnership with Sprouting Compassion, Healthy World, the Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter, and Animal Protection Voters, the 2026 festival set a record as the largest VegFest in city history. Featuring an expanded lineup of culinary vendors, educational presentations, and community advocacy organizations, the event celebrated plant-based living, animal protection, and climate resilience.

"Today’s incredible turnout proves that Albuquerque residents are energized and eager to invest in a healthier, more sustainable community," said District 7 City Councilor Tammy Fiebelkorn. "The Red & Green VegFest brings together local entrepreneurs, advocates, and families who understand that everyday choices can build a cleaner, more compassionate city."

The event kicked off at 10:00 AM as the first 50 attendees received exclusive Welcome Swag Bags filled with eco-friendly products and plant-based treats from local sponsors. Throughout the day, attendees engaged with vendor booths, attended educational workshops on environmental stewardship, and enjoyed culinary offerings from New Mexico’s growing plant-based sector. 

"We are deeply moved by the overwhelming community support for our eleventh annual festival," said Nancy Arenas, Executive Director of Sprouting Compassion. "Working alongside City Councilor Fiebelkorn and our passionate co-hosts, we’re showing how accessible, enjoyable, and vital compassionate living is for the future of our state." 

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2026 RED & GREEN VEGFEST: 

• Record Participation: Hosted the highest number of participating vendors, non-profit organizations, and attendees in the festival’s 11-year history.

• Community Partnerships: Brought together key regional environmental and animal protection organizations, including the Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter, Animal Protection Voters, and Healthy World.
• Economic Impact: Promoted local small businesses and culinary artisans within Albuquerque’s green economy.
