District 7 Medians
In progress
Councilor Fiebelkorn has begun the process of upgrading and beautifying the medians on Lomas Blvd in District 7. The median redesign and upgrades include the addition of landscaping plants, bushes, and trees that provide pollinator habitat. The first section included 5 medians on Lomas from San Mateo Blvd to San Pedro Dr. These medians were completed August 2024.
The second phase of upgrading the Lomas Blvd medians began in October 2026. This phase covers the medians from San Pedro Dr. to Louisiana Blvd and includes replacing trees that have reached the end of their lifecycle, adding green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) features, and repairing aging irrigation.
The GSI features capture rainwater from the street and direct it into the medians, reducing both irrigation needs and street flooding.
Surrounding neighborhoods provided input to help select the new climate-adaptive trees, shrubs, and flowers.
Capital outlay funding has generously been provided by Senators Daniel Ivey-Soto and Bill Tallman, and Representatives Meredith Dixon, Liz Thomson, and Georgene Louis.
