Statement from the Office of the City Clerk on the Passing of Former City Clerk Margie Romero Baca

ALBUQUERQUE – Margie Romero Baca, former City Clerk from 1997 to 2001, passed on January 20, 2026. In response, the Albuquerque City Clerk issued the following statement:

“Former City Clerk Margie Romero Baca passed away earlier this month, and we thank her for her service to the City of Albuquerque,” said City Clerk Ethan Watson. “In addition to serving as City Clerk during multiple municipal elections, she devoted much of her career to public education and public service. The Office of the City Clerk is built on continuity, and Ms. Romero Baca was part of that important institutional history."
