Joint Election Update: Regular Local Election Runoff

The City and County Clerks announce that the Runoff Election for Albuquerque Mayor and City Council Districts 1 and 3 will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

November 10, 2025

ALBUQUERQUE – Early Voting will take place Monday, December 1 through Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 17 polling locations across Albuquerque. On Election Day, Tuesday, December 9, 50 polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Absentee ballots will be mailed to voters who have requested them beginning November 18. The last day to request an absentee ballot is November 25. Voters are encouraged to return their completed ballots as soon as possible—either by mailing them by December 2 or by dropping them off at any Early Voting or Election Day location. All absentee ballots must be received by the Clerk’s Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Same-day registration will also be available during the Early Voting period and on Election Day.

Additional details, including a full list of voting locations and sample ballots, are available at berncoclerk.gov.

Public Financing

Participating candidates in the Runoff Election may choose to continue as publicly financed or opt out and run as privately financed candidates. Under the Open and Ethical Elections Code (OEEC), before receiving a runoff distribution, candidates must return any unspent or unencumbered funds from the Regular Local Election by Friday, November 7.

The City Clerk’s Office will issue $377,973 in public financing to participating mayoral candidates. These funds will be distributed to qualified candidates who choose to remain publicly financed under the OEEC.

Public financing ensures that candidates can run competitive campaigns funded by voters, not private interests, while maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the election process.
