Free admission and programming at Casa San Ysidro from 1-4 p.m.
When Mr. Bautista Targhetta, of Corrales, volunteered for military service in 1917 he did so because he wanted to become a U. S. citizen. He had no idea that it would mean bearing arms against his native country of Italy. Mr. Targhetta’s and the stories of three other Corrales veterans are the subject of November’s “Second Saturday” program designed to honor military veterans and Corrales families. This free afternoon event is co-sponsored by Casa San Ysidro and the Corrales Historical Society on November 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
On November 9th, not only will Casa San Ysidro be open free to the community for self-guided tours between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., a walking tour to the graves of four Corrales veterans representing WWI, WWII, and the Korean and Viet Nam Wars will begin at 1:30 p.m. Because a large number of people are expected to attend this free program the tour will be repeated at 2:30 p.m. the same day.
