The amendments to the Sawmill Wells Park Sector Plan establish a circulation master plan for a Focus Area within the two neighborhoods. The Focus Area is defined approximately on the north by Interstate 40 (I-40), on the west by Rio Grande Boulevard, on the south by Mountain Road, and on the east by 12th Street, Bellamah Avenue NW, and 8th Street.

City Councilor Isaac Benton worked with the City’s Department of Municipal Development (DMD) regarding traffic safety and stop sign reconfiguration in the Raynolds Addition and Barelas Neighborhoods.

In 2007, as a response to constituents’ concerns that North Valley character is being developed over, Councilor O’Malley initiated a project to study the impacts of recent residential development trends.

On February 23rd, 2011 the City Council unanimously passed R-10-177.

On August 15th, 2011 the City Council unanimously passed R-11-211, a Rank 3 plan that adopted new policies and zoning regulations for a 446-acre area held by Longford Homes.

On May 2nd, 2011 the City Council unanimously passed R-11-200, a Rank 3 plan that adopted new policies and zoning regulations for a 2,327-acre area atop the Northwest Mesa.

North Fourth Street Rank III Corridor Plan

The purpose of this Plan is to encourage and facilitate infill redevelopment of Uptown as both an economically and environmentally sustainable, business and pedestrian-friendly area where people can live, work, and play.

The Council passed legislation authorizing development of a Sector Plan for the area north of Gibson Boulevard, east of University Boulevard, south of St. Cyr Ave. SE and generally west of Columbia Drive. The Sector Plan bill was signed by the Mayor and has become law.

The Form Based Zones legislation (O-08-58) was passed by City Council with a 7:2 vote on April 6, 2009.
