January 13, 2026

ALBUQUERQUE — As the new year begins, the City of Albuquerque is inviting residents to make a resolution that lasts: invest in their future through free, industry-recognized training offered through the Get Certified ABQ program.

Through a partnership with Google, Get Certified ABQ provides access to professional certificate programs designed to prepare participants for high-demand careers in technology, business, and data. The program removes financial barriers and offers flexible, online learning options so participants can gain new skills while balancing work, school, or family responsibilities.

“Starting a new year is about setting goals and creating opportunities,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Get Certified ABQ gives Albuquerque residents a real pathway to build in-demand skills, increase their earning potential, and take the next step in their careers, at no cost to them.”

Participants can earn certificates in a variety of in-demand fields, including:

  • Project Management
  • Digital Marketing & E-Commerce
  • IT Support
  • UX Design
  • Data Analytics
  • IT Automation with Python
  • Cybersecurity
  • AI Essentials
  • Business Intelligence
  • Advanced Data Analytics
  • AI Prompting Essentials
  • People Management Essentials

Courses are delivered in English, with several available fully in Spanish and Arabic and many others supported by subtitles in a wide range of languages, including Vietnamese, making the program accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

“These programs are designed to meet people where they are,” said Workforce Development Liaison Justin Hilliard. “Whether someone is looking to start a new career, advance in their current role, or build confidence in emerging technologies, this program gives them flexible, practical ways to grow at their own pace and chart their own path.”

Each certificate program is developed by Google and includes hands-on projects, skill assessments, and career resources such as resume support and interview preparation. Upon completing the certificate, graduates gain access to an employer consortium of more than 150 companies, including Google, Deloitte, Verizon, and Walmart.

To participate, applicants must be at least 16 years old and either reside in Bernalillo County or attend a high school within the county. Participants receive up to eight months to complete their selected course and must remain active in the program to retain access.
