ALBUQUERQUE – The City of Albuquerque’s Economic Development Department, in partnership with CNM, is expanding its training programs through the Job Training Albuquerque (JTA) program to prepare more Albuquerque residents for careers in healthcare and construction. As the City of Albuquerque’s premier workforce development program, JTA is now offering a multitude of new courses this year thanks to two new partnerships with University of New Mexico Continuing Education (UNMCE) and Associated General Contractors of New Mexico (AGC NM).

JTA’s 29 new courses will provide high-demand skills training in multiple industries including the healthcare and construction sectors. These new JTA courses will help Albuquerque workforce advance in essential and growing career paths.\

“We are dedicated to uplifting Albuquerque’s workforce,” said EDD Deputy Director Monica Mitchell. “JTA is supporting our small businesses and changing the lives of working families by training employees in marketable skillsets to meet business needs. Our primary goal is to create an economy that works for everyone, and we are thrilled to see the positive impact that JTA has had in our community.”

UNMCE offers valuable learning opportunities and certification programs that invest in the local workforce and economy. They will be offering a variety of training programs through JTA that align with the needs of local employers, including new programs that cater to the healthcare industry such as trainings to become a Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Clinical Lab Assistant, and more.

The primary mission of AGC NM is to educate New Mexicans about the benefits of a career in construction while providing advocacy, training, and improving jobsite safety. The partnership with AGC NM adds five construction-focused training programs to the JTA course portfolio. AGC NM’s training programs include management courses within the construction industry such as Construction Supervision Fundamentals, Construction Quality Management for Contractors, Supervisory Training Program, and more.

“AGC NM is committed and focused on enhancing career development opportunities for individuals and improving the performance of construction companies and the industry,” said Kelly Roepke-Orth, Chief Executive Officer of AGC NM. “We are excited to continue to support the professional development of construction workers and are proud of our role in this partnership to facilitate small business growth throughout the state.”

JTA offers a variety of courses in sought-after positions. JTA and its partners provide local employers with the opportunity to upskill their workforce while simultaneously providing Albuquerque workers with marketable, high-value skills that position them for an upward career trajectory.
