Job Training ABQ Adds 1,500+ Jobs, Quantum Training

City’s workforce initiative continues to expand, fueling job creation, wage growth, and preparing residents for the future of technology

August 22, 2025

ALBUQUERQUE – Job Training Albuquerque (JTA), the City of Albuquerque’s premier workforce initiative in partnership with Central New Mexico Community College (CNM), has reached new milestones in its mission to strengthen small businesses and upskill the city’s workforce. As of July 31, 2025, JTA has now enrolled 3,433 workers from 374 Albuquerque-based small businesses, resulting in 1,510 new jobs and $74.8 million in added earning power for local employees.

Participating businesses continue to report strong results, with an average wage increase of 24.76% for employees who completed JTA programs. The program’s impact extends across diverse industries, including technology, healthcare, hospitality, and construction, while supporting a wide range of business owners, 37% female-owned, 34% minority-owned, and nearly 7% LGBTQ-owned.

“Job Training Albuquerque is proving that when we invest in our people, we strengthen our entire economy,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Every new job, every wage increase, and every small business success story shows the power of this program. Now, with training opportunities in cutting-edge fields like quantum technology, we’re positioning Albuquerque as a city of the future.”

In July alone, JTA enrolled 139 workers from 50 small businesses, including eight new businesses joining the program. To meet the evolving needs of the community, JTA recently welcomed Three Sisters Kitchen as a new training provider, adding specialized food and hospitality programs that build on Albuquerque’s growing culinary scene.

At the same time, JTA is funding courses that prepare residents for emerging sectors like quantum technology. This fall, CNM Ingenuity will launch the Quantum Technician Bootcamp, a first-of-its-kind 10-week program that trains participants, no college degree or prior technical background required, for entry-level jobs in the rapidly growing quantum industry. With average salaries ranging from $80,000 to $90,000, this initiative is opening doors for veterans, career changers, and small business employees alike.

“We’re excited to be adding our Quantum Technician Bootcamp to Job Training Albuquerque’s workforce development options,” said CNM President Tracy Hartzler. “This 10-week program is going to provide veterans, career changers, and small business employees with opportunities to secure high-paying careers in the fast-emerging field of quantum technology,”

“This is how we grow Albuquerque’s economy, by making training inclusive, practical, and forward-looking,” said Economic Development Director Max Gruner. “The addition of Three Sisters Kitchen and CNM’s Quantum Technician Bootcamp shows how JTA adapts to community needs while positioning our city for success in emerging industries.”

Since its inception in 2020, JTA has supported thousands of Albuquerque workers and small businesses through free training programs, helping them navigate workforce challenges, increase productivity, and create sustainable career pathways. The program continues to expand in both scale and scope, ensuring Albuquerque’s workforce is ready to thrive in a competitive global economy.
