City Window Grant Extended
Applications accepted until funds are depleted
ALBUQUERQUE — The City of Albuquerque continues to offer financial assistance to small businesses impacted by vandalism through its Window Grant Program, with funding still available and applications accepted until all funds are exhausted.
The program is a partnership between the Economic Development Department’s Small Business Office; the Health, Housing & Homelessness Department (HHH), and the Albuquerque Police Department (APD). It helps offset the cost of repairing or replacing windows damaged by vandalism.
“By fixing broken windows quickly we help small businesses stay open and neighborhoods to feel safer,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We encourage business owners to apply now.”
Since the grant launched in October, 50 applications have been received, with 82 windows repaired or replaced to date. Several additional applications remain in progress as applicants complete required documentation or finalize repairs.
Priority is given to businesses located in underserved areas. Eligible applicants include brick-and-mortar businesses with 25 or fewer employees, 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations, and educational entities located within the City of Albuquerque.
The grant reimburses up to 80% of the total cost of window replacement or repair, with a maximum reimbursement of $3,000 per business. An additional $1,000 is available for projects that include environmentally sustainable or security-grade glass, for a potential total of $4,000 per business.
Local business owners say the program has made a meaningful difference.
“These grants have helped dozens of local businesses recover from vandalism and reopen their doors more quickly,” said Senior Economic Developer Frankie Hermosillo. “We want business owners to know that funding is still available, and we encourage them to apply while resources remain.”
“I’m incredibly grateful for this support,” said State Farm Agent Michael Romero. “Having assistance during an unexpected and difficult situation makes a real difference for small businesses like mine. I truly appreciate the City stepping in to help, and I’m ready to move forward as soon as everything is in place.”
To qualify, incidents must have occurred on or after July 1, 2025. Applicants need to submit a police report, timestamped photos of the damage and completed repairs, and participate in a required APD Business Crime Prevention security survey.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all funds are exhausted and can be submitted online at cabq.gov/windowgrant.
The Window Grant builds on the success of prior City efforts including the Glass Replacement Program (2020) and the Window to Opportunity Grant (2024), which provided critical assistance to small businesses impacted by vandalism throughout Albuquerque.
