City Council Appoints Isaac Padilla to Director of City Council Services

Council approved the appointment at tonight’s City Council Meeting.

Tonight, the City Council approved OC-23-38, to appoint Isaac Padilla to the position of Director of City Council Services. The Director of Council Services shall, after consultation with the President and City Councilors, have charge of and see that all employees of the City Council perform their respective duties and shall have general control of the City Council Office.

“Per our Council rules, we conducted a process to recruit, screen, and interview numerous candidates for the Director position,” said Council President Pat Davis. “Mr. Padilla’s experience and vision for the future of the City Council Office made him the best choice for the job.”

Mr. Isaac Padilla has previously served numerous years at the City of Albuquerque in multiple roles. Currently, Mr. Padilla served the City of Albuquerque as the State Capital and Policy Liaison/Cannabis Equity Manager. Prior to that he was the Director of Policy and Government Affairs from 2018 to 2022. Mr. Padilla previously worked in the City Council Services Department as a Policy Analyst from 2007 to 2013.

“Mr. Padilla brings vital experience of working for the city and other government agencies for numerous years, including the City Council Office,” said Councilor Dan Lewis. “We’re excited for him to get started and move our office forward.”

Mr. Padilla has a Bachelor of Arts, Economics and Political Science, from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Padilla replaces the previous Director, Chris Melendrez, who left the position in May 2023.
