Description

Klaus Biesenbach, director of the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin will explore the history of the new national gallery in Berlin, which houses the federal collection of German and international art of the 20th century. The history of this exceptional collection mirrors the history of the two Germanies, East and West, since its beginnings in the 1940s as the “Gallery of the 20th Century.” Biesenbach became director of the Neue Nationalgalerie in 2021 and has brought new dynamism to its exhibitions, educational programs, and civic engagement. He previously served as Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA); Chief Curator at Large at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and Director of MoMA PS1, New York.
