Request for Letters of Interest: Language Interpretation Services

Purpose: Through this Request for Letters of Interest, the City of Albuquerque, Legal Department, Office of Equity and Inclusion requests information from persons and organizations interested in providing language interpretation and translation services for the City.

Purpose:
Through this Request for Letters of Interest, the City of Albuquerque, Legal Department, Office of Equity and Inclusion requests information from persons and organizations interested in providing language interpretation and translation services for the City.

Information Requested:
Respondents shall submit responses to the following electronically in accordance with the How to Submit a Response instructions.

Company Information:

  1. Company name and headquarters mailing address
  2. Contact name, telephone, and electronic mail address
  3. Company Website URL
  4. Type of Organization (corporation, partnership, etc.)
  5. How long has the company been in business in its current form?

Types of Interpretation and Translation Services Offered Offsite/Onsite, Rates:

  1. Describe how you provide in person and/or virtual interpreter services. How many interpreters do you assign for what kinds of meetings, does the length of the meeting change the above? Discuss rates for these kinds of assignments.
  2. Describe how much advance notice you require prior to accepting an in-person interpretation assignment. Discuss whether and how rates vary depending on the amount of advanced noticed provided.
  3. Describe how you provide simultaneous interpretation both in person and virtually, including what equipment you possess and utilize for what purposes.
  4. Describe how you provide on demand 24 hour, 7 days a week telephonic (over the phone) interpretation and in what languages? Discuss rates for these kinds of assignments.
  5. Describe written translation services you can provide for which languages for a variety of documents written in English. Such documents may include public information as well as technical terminology.
  6. Describe how you will determine the timeline and turnaround time for documents you determine to be more complex, such as those containing technical information specialized language.
  7. Describe how you train users to utilize your language services, and whether in-person, virtual, video or other training is available.
  8. Describe consulting services you provide that assist in the effective utilization of language services for City staff including, but not limited to, how to work with interpreters and best practices/ approaches to communicate with LEP communities.
  9. Please provide a comprehensive breakdown of the various types of rates that may be charged to the City of Albuquerque for each type of language interpretation service that might be rendered related to the request for letters of interest (i.e. telephonic, in person, virtual, English language interpretation services vs Non-English language interpretation services, etc.)


Certifications, Experience, and References:

  1. Describe what certifications your interpreters may possess, if any, and from what certifying body
    State all relevant past experience in providing interpretation and translation services in formal settings / gatherings / professional meetings.
  2. State for whom the services were performed, year completed, and a reference person who can be contacted regarding the services. References should be for work performed in the past three to five (3 to 5) years. State relevant experience with other municipalities or government entities.

Comments:

Provide a brief (no more than one (1) page) statement describing the advantages to the City of Albuquerque should it elect to use your firm.


How to Submit a Response:


All Letters of Interest shall be submitted in electronic copy to the contact person below by 5:00 pm on August 14, 2020. Responses to this Request for Letters of Interest are voluntary. The submitted information will be reviewed by the City and may be made available to the public. Submitted information will not be considered confidential. Those who respond are advised that the City is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of your comments, or provide comments on your submission. No proprietary, classified, confidential and/or sensitive information should be included in your response.
