Our Department

Message from the Inspector General

Welcome to the website for the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the City of Albuquerque. OIG is an independent entity that has the responsibility for promoting accountability, integrity, efficiency, and transparency in the governance of the City of Albuquerque.

Through inspections, reviews, and investigations, the OIG identifies systemic corruption vulnerabilities and recommends improvements to reduce the City’s exposure to fraud, waste, and abuse. The Office’s goal is to improve the function of City departments to ensure they are effective and efficient for the constituents of Albuquerque.

Our mission cannot succeed without everyone’s participation.  City employees and members of the public are often our most valuable source of information.  If you witness corruption, waste, fraud or abuse you can report it to OIG through our website or by calling 505-768-4TIP (4847).

Working together, striving to do the right thing, for the right reasons, we can ensure that City government is honest, ethical, and effective.

As Inspector General, I am happy to speak to your group or organization regarding the functions of the OIG and how we can work together for the continuous improvement of the City of Albuquerque.

Thank you,

Melissa R. Santistevan CPA, CFE, CGMA, CICA
