Students and Commuters: Route 790 is Back for Spring Semester!

Westside to UNM and CNM service operating on Weekdays.
January 10, 2025

ALBUQUERQUE – There’s great news for students and commuters living on the Westside, starting Monday, January 13, 2025, the Route 790 bus route is back in service on weekdays from about 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The route runs hourly, starting at the Northwest Transit Center near Cottonwood Mall and going South on Coors, East on I-40, South on Rio Grande, and East on Lomas through downtown, and South on University where it will provide service to CNM as well as UNM.

“Connectivity to our city’s educational hubs is critical,” said Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Samantha Sengel, “Bringing this route back for the spring academic semester supports students and commuters living on the Westside, giving folks a free and easy way to get across town and back.”

The Route 790 will be in place for the spring academic semester as an interim bridge between the City’s public transportation today and where it’s driving toward with the ABQ RIDE Forward Plan.

“The public will continue to see more and more bus service on the streets,” said Transit Director Leslie Keener. “In 2024, we gained 145 weekly service hours and will continue to bring back service as we rebuild staffing levels. I am confident that we will increase staffing and retention with quarterly rapid hire events, our renewed mission statement, and a new strategic emphasis on employee-centeredness.”

Bus riders can download the Transit App or use Google Maps to navigate the bus system. Find information about the ABQ RIDE Forward Plan and available job positions. Route schedules can be found on ABQRIDE.com.
