ART Nears 10 Million Rides

ALBUQUERQUE – ABQ RIDE invites people to ride the bus this week to see if they will be the lucky 10 millionth rider on Albuquerque Rapid Transit (ART).

The winner will receive an ABQ RIDE-branded gift bag featuring:

·       Two Family Passes to enjoy the ABQ BioPark Zoo and Aquarium / Botanic Garden, Albuquerque Museum, and Balloon Museum courtesy of the City’s Department of Arts & Culture

·       A bag of “All Sick Blend” ethically-sourced, specialty-grade coffee beans courtesy of Little Bear Coffee

·       New Mexico United and Albuquerque Isotopes tickets

·       ABQ RIDE swag including a squeezy bus, ChapStick, a coloring book, and more!

ART is a fixed-route service of ABQ RIDE that primarily runs along historic Central Avenue and is distinct from other public transit services due to its high capacity and longer “accordion” buses, dedicated bus lanes that make it faster, signal priority, and distinctive stations. ART is ABQ RIDE’s most productive service, accounting for about 30% of total ridership with almost twice as many riders as the rest of the system per hour of bus service operated.

“ABQ RIDE is on the cusp of a major milestone that cements the success of ART,” said Transit Director Leslie Keener. “We hope that seeing such high ridership and usage of this service shows the community that despite its challenges, ART is performing well, serving millions of riders annually, and making a difference in transporting the community citywide to shop, get to class on time, commute to work, and to get wherever they need to go without expensive parking or even transit fees.”
