More than 700 Thanksgiving Meals Served Throughout Gateway Network
ALBUQUERQUE- Today, 763 warm, fresh Thanksgiving meals were served to people throughout our Gateway Network. This includes Gateway West, where 32 volunteers served 603 meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. 26 Volunteers also served 115 meals to families staying at Gateway Family and to 45 women staying at the Housing Navigation Center at Gateway Center.

“Today, I am thankful for our community coming together to help those in need,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “I appreciate the volunteers, restaurants, and staff who are making a difference by serving a special holiday meal and putting smiles on the faces of families and children who are on the path to housing.”

Baca Boys Café generously donated 3 gallons of red chile gravy, Alex Tackman and Billy Tubb with RKL Sales donated 50 pumpkin pies, Labatt Food Service donated 20 pumpkin pies, and Marie Chavez and Patti Smith generously donated cases of whipped cream.
“Individuals and families seeking pathways to housing already have a lot on their plate, and because of the hard work of our staff and volunteers, today families didn’t have to worry about a warm Thanksgiving meal,” said Health, Housing and Homelessness Director Gilbert Ramirez. “Thank you for supporting the most vulnerable in our community today and throughout the year.”
“We are thankful for the volunteers who shared their holiday with people who need it the most,” said Homeless Innovations Officer Maria Wolfe. “Thanksgiving is a day of plenty, so it’s magical to see people coming together to create a special day for those in our shelters.”
