Let's Celebrate our Volunteers by giving thanks!
1st Annual Mayor's Day of Volunteer Recognition
The 1st Annual Mayor's Day of Volunteer Recognition was held on April 9, 2013. Despite the bad weather, we were able to MOVE the planned event into the Convention Center! Our team organized an event for 300 dedicated community members and we had over 500 people in attendance! It was a great turnout!
Volunteers have been able to help sustain current community programs and services through volunteer efforts with a cost savings of $6,073,369.80. This number has been calculated using the number of volunteer hours submitted to the MOVE Office for a calendar year and was multiplied by $7.50 (2012 minimum wage).
On behalf of the Mayor's Office we would like to congratulate all those who were nominated to receive a Certificate of Volunteer Recognition! There were well over 65 group and/or individual nomination forms submitted and read by the MOVE Advisory Board. We would also like to thank all those who support Albuquerque's volunteers by giving them the opportunity to make a difference!
