New After-Hours Emergency Pet Care

After-hours care for reclaimed, stray, or adopted pets.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department would like to recognize Route 66 Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Center as our new emergency after hours partner.

Route 66 Veterinary Clinic is accepting after hours emergencies for the shelter. If residents need emergency care after hours for a pet they have reclaimed, found as an injured stray or adopted, they can take their pets to Route 66 Veterinary Clinic.

Animal Welfare will also accept emergencies from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Eastside shelter or Westside shelter.

All non-injured found pets should still be brought to the Eastside shelter during normal intake hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Until now, we have been utilizing VCA on Montgomery for this purpose. VCA will no longer be accepting shelter pets for emergency care. Animal Welfare would like to offer our most sincere appreciation and gratitude to VCA for their continuous commitment to saving animal's lives and to their wellbeing. We look forward to working with them in the near future.
