AWD “We Care” Community Pet Services Unit

The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) “We Care” Community Pet Services Mobile Unit travels around the City of Albuquerque to provide pets belonging to Albuquerque residents with free preventative services to help pets continue to live a healthy lifestyle.

The Animal Welfare Department offers appointment based services for vaccinations and microchipping, You MUST have an appointment to receive services. Call 311 or follow the links below to make your appointment and to ensure you meet qualifications.

Animal Welfare Department (AWD) “We Care” Mobile Unit will visit several locations throughout the City on a rotating basis. Dates and locations will be updated regularly .

  • Sunday July 10th Westgate Community Center, sign up genius opens Tuesday July 5th 
  • Sunday July 24th Los Volcanes Senior Center –sign up genius opens Monday July 18th
  • Sunday August 21st McKinley Community Center –sign up genius opens Monday August 15th
  • Sunday August 28th Veterans Memorial Park –sign up genius opens Monday August 22nd
  • Sunday September 11th Mesa Verde Community Center – sign up genius opens Monday August 29th
  • September 25th Westgate Community Center –sign up genius opens Monday September 19th
  • October 2nd Los Volcanes Senior Center –sign up genius opens Monday September 26th

Questions on how to qualify:

  • AWD will only be able to make appointments for a limited number of Citizens that live within the city limits. If appointments are filled please keep checking back with our website for cancellations and future outings of  our mobile unit service.
  • This is a service for qualified low to moderate income families who are residents of the City of Albuquerque.
  • Services include: Vaccinations, Microchip implantation
    • If your pet needs spay/neuter surgery, a voucher for services will be issued by AWD. Those citizens who are issued a voucher will not need to visit the van. AWD staff will contact them with details regarding the issuing of the voucher
    • Pets that do not need spay/neuter surgery should make a drive-thru appointment for vaccinations or microchip

Qualification is based on:

  • Residence within the City of Albuquerque
  • Total household income
