The New Year is a great time to join our team at the City and be part of what’s good in our community. The City of Albuquerque has dozens of positions open across departments that offer great benefits, outstanding retirement options, and hiring bonuses of up to $15,000. The full list of hiring incentives is available at cabq.gov/bonus.

“A job with the City is more than just a paycheck, it’s a pathway to fulfilling work and that makes a positive impact for our families,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “We have positions open in just about all of our departments, and we know there are qualified, committed people in our community who would be a great fit for our team, and would benefit from the incentives and support we have to offer.”

Some of the positions the City is looking to hire for are:

  • Positions that require a commercial driver’s license, an engineering background, or a finance background.
  • Qualified cadets to join the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire and Rescue Academies.
  • Albuquerque Community Safety is looking for first responders who want to help those who are the most vulnerable in our city.

Some of the incentives the City is offering are:

  • Bus drivers and motor coach drivers can earn a hiring incentive of up to $1,000, while laborers and electricians can earn a hiring bonus of up to $750.
  • A Firefighter Paramedic can get up to a $15,000 bonus for completing training and sticking with the department for one year.
  • ACS responders, heavy equipment operators, and others, can get a $1,000 signing bonus after six months.
  • City employees can also earn a finder’s fee of up to $2,500 for helping find a new, qualified, employee.

Every City position comes with top-notch benefits, like health and dental insurance, as well as a flexible spending account, a 529 Plan, life insurance, paid time off, and much more. Most positions also qualify for the generous State Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) retirement plan. Funding for the hiring incentives comes from savings created by vacancies.
